“A milestone": Lekkerland opens its first smart store at the EnBW fast-charging park at Kamener Kreuz: Premiere for Lekkerland's AI-based unmanned store

REWE ready convenience store with on-the-go refreshments and selected groceries at the largest fast-charging park in Frechen/Kamen/Karlsruhe, November 14, 2024 - Walk in, take an item, walk out - that's how convenient shopping is. Artificial intelligence (AI) makes it possible. The store that has now opened, is the first of its kind from Lekkerland, a subsidiary of the REWE Group that specializes in on-the-go consumption.

A result of a great partnership and creative collaboration, between Ce and REWE/Lekkerland, showcasing our extensive professional experience in pioneering retail design. REWE remains dedicated to meet the ever-changing expectations of end consumers, and our primary goal is to assist our clients with great design solutions.

“The opening of this store is a milestone for Lekkerland. With the 'Smart BOX' concept used here, we are using the most sophisticated smart store technology with AI to offer the most convenient shopping experience possible,” says Mehmet Tözge, Vice President Smart Stores at Lekkerland.

Lekkerland now operates four different smart store concepts at public locations: In addition to the “Smart BOX” in Kamen, the company's portfolio includes the “Smart Shop” concept, which is also AI-based and uses intelligent refrigerators, the “Smart Kiosk” self-checkout solution and “Smart Automat”, which uses robotics technology.

“We have developed this portfolio, which is unique in Germany, because we are convinced that different locations require different solutions. In the end, the decisive factors are customer acceptance, the reliability of the technology and cost-effectiveness,” explains Mehmet Tözge.
